Presentation Type: Presentation (30 minutes)
Skill Level: Beginner
Intended Audience: GIS User, GIS Instructor, Student
Abstract
Curious about QGIS? It is one of the best, most well-developed GIS tools out there, and it’s free! This session is a gentle introduction to the software, perfect for users who have never used it before. We will go over how to install the software, and will take a visual tour or the major components of the program interface. We’ll add data from different sources, and adjust basic symbology settings.
Presenter(s)
Joshua Carlson
GIS Developer, Kendall County
Josh is a GIS Developer in the public sector, where he gets to nudge boundary lines around and build things that (hopefully) make Kendall County run a little better. When he’s not on the clock, you can find him mapping on OpenStreetMap, fiddling with things, knitting, or talking too much to his wife and sons about any of the above. Josh knits all his own socks.
